2024 WAS A YEAR OF TRANSITIONS

HERE’S WHERE WE ARE NOW

What a year it’s been! A myriad of highs and lows have cropped up for us since we announced last December that we were moving our office from the beautiful Mediterranean coast of Antalya, Türkiye to the banks of the Danube in Budapest, Hungary. Here we are a year later, so grateful to be able to share this new update with you.

OUR TEAM IS SETTLING IN

Our team has settled in Budapest, found housing, obtained visas, went through some basic language training, and generally have been navigating the many details necessary in an international move. Many of you are intimately familiar with this process too – and we’re grateful for your patience as our team of therapists and support staff prepare to open our doors again.

Additionally, this time has been full of closing down an organization in one country and getting all the paperwork in line for reopening in a new country. As you might imagine this process, in addition to moving furniture and getting visa paperwork together has created mountains of papers and emails that come with any major relocation. 

WE HAVE NEW OFFICE SPACE

We are pleased to announce that we have settled on some new office space. We will be on the Buda side of the city, right along a tram line and in a quiet but easy to access area of the city. We’re thrilled for the additional space this new office provides, and are now in the process of doing some renovations to prepare for an opening in early 2025. We will have several well-situated counseling spaces, offices, childcare space, a large balcony with play areas, spacious waiting rooms, and a reception area. 

As clients, you will have easy access to our office from lodging around the city through the great public transit available here. We are just a quick tram ride or walk away from restaurants and shopping. Additionally, Budapest has plenty of parks, cafes, medical facilities and more that will hopefully be a good place to rest and enjoy your time outside of intensive counseling. 

WE WILL BE OPENING OUR CALENDAR SOON

You’ll hear from us as soon as we have a firm date for opening our doors in the new year, so stay tuned! We’ll start booking clients out early in the new year and will announce here and on social media when our calendar is open for booking again. 

WE ARE EXCITED TO GROW

This new location is setting us up well for growth! We’re excited to have more space available for family counseling and teams in addition to the individual, couples and child therapy we already provide. Additionally, we are prayerfully hoping to add to our counseling team and support staff in the coming years. 

Currently, we are looking for a few key roles (in-person in Budapest) for a receptionist, childcare providers, and an intake coordinator. If you know of someone who might be interested, please reach out toinfo@olivetreecounseling.org. 

This new chapter of Olive Tree will also allow us to provide more seminars / webinars, video resources, and more. If you have any specific areas of needs or things you’d like us to address in the coming year, please email us topics or themes you’re needing resources on! We are keen to provide relevant and valuable resources that will empower you in your cross-cultural life and service.
