When: Sunday, October 19 – Friday, October 31, 2014
Where:Antalya, Turkey // Akka Antedon Hotel

For more than 30 years the Narramore Christian Foundation has offered intensive two-week seminars in counseling in the United States and Thailand. More than 2000 people have taken this training. Now this helpful counseling seminar is being offered for the second year in Antalya, Turkey.

Please see brochure for a list and description of the seminar hosts and instructors.

Seminar Objectives

As a cross-cultural worker, you are called to counsel a great variety of people. Yet academic training rarely adequately equips you to deal with the many problems you will encounter in serving others. To meet this need, the Narramore Christian Foundation has developed an intensive counseling seminar. The seminar will increase your counseling and member care skills. Instructors will emphasize a strong integration of biblical truth with practical psychological insights and counseling techniques.

Content

Lecture and Discussion Topics:
Psychological and Theological Foundations for Member Care and Counseling
Your Role in Comprehensive Member Care
Personality Dynamics and Adjustment
Psychopathology on Organizational Teams
Learning From the Emotional Life of Jesus
Stress and Burnout
Cross-Cultural Issues in Member Care
Techniques of Counseling
Rethinking the Doctrine of Sanctification
Pornography and Sexual Addictions
TCKs with Special Needs (including ADHD)
Working with Depression and Anxiety
Anger Management and Conflict Resolution

Special Elective Tracks
Fifteen hours of the seminar will be devoted to one of three elective skill building/experiential tracks. Participants will choose between:
Basic Counseling & Active Listening Skills
Small Personal Enrichment Group (for personal and professional growth)
Small Couples Enrichment Group (for growth in your marriage, and learning techniques for counseling couples and families)

Personal Growth Activities
Participants will take a personality test designed to enhance self-observation and insight. Seminar staff members will be available for personal consultation or counseling during the seminar. There are no fees for the tests, counseling or consultation.

Elective Evening Mini-Seminars
At least two evening seminars will be offered on topics like:
Sexual Abuse Prevention and Response
De-escalating Conflicts in Marriage

Who May Attend?

Member care workers, counselors, human resource workers, and educators and their spouses are invited to attend. The sessions include a broad range of counseling, problem solving and growth topics that apply to anyone in a people helping, counseling, or member care role.

Because the seminar is more helpful when a couple attends together, married participants are strongly encouraged to attend with their spouses.
