Megan McCrary

MSW Intern

“I would love to live like a river flows, carried by the surprise of its own unfolding.” -John O’Donohue

Megan is studying Social Work with an emphasis in Mental Health & Substance Abuse at The Ohio State University. She is passionate about the intersection of care, community & creativity. She believes that the arts have a powerful ability to light up different areas of the brain, build bridges across varied landscapes, and stimulate innovative calls to social action. She is struck by the notion that art both holds us right where we are, and welcomes fresh, new perspectives. Her interests at Olive Tree include play therapy, the use of art and creative techniques in therapy, sand tray therapy, mindfulness practice and working with cross-cultural workers and TCKs.

Megan herself is a TCK, having lived both in Spain and Germany as a child. She studied art as her undergraduate degree and has enjoyed using art to work in community center settings and schools. She has lived in Turkey for four years, and still swoons over the mountains and sea standing within such close reach. She has started a handful of creative collectives over the years and enjoys using art as a way to foster community and connection. In her free time, Megan loves reading, writing poetry, running, sipping coffee, and cuddling her giant puppy, Zadie.
